The onyl reason I ever heard about this movie is when I saw a promotion for it on YouTube. It was the premier of the movie and elizabeth olson was wearing a black dress with gold dots on it and aubry plaza came out wearing the exact same thing. I just thought plaza was being funny becasue thats her humor and it turns out they were doing it as a publicity thing for the movie. In this movie Plazas caracter is obsessed with Olsons and tries to do everything like her even... moving to the west coast. She basically stalks her until they become friends and youll have to watch the movie to find out the rest. I thought this movie was good. Its not amazing but its funny and sad at the same time. Its not like any story ive seen before especially with 2 female leads. I think Plaza barley had to act for this role which I think made the chamistry between her and Olson even better. They both did a great job. Theres nothign too special about the cinematography exept towards the end of the movie when it starts to go from fun and light to dark and a bit sad. The shots get more still and less alive. The camera stays in one place and rather than tells the story lets you see it for yourself. The soundtrack is quirky and fun but not very noticible. The story kinda falls between the lines of "yeah this could happen" and "this is 100% a comedy". Its real at some points but completly fake feeling at others. I dont really have much else to say about this. I like the movie but dont love it. I give this a 7/10. I would reccomend this to anyone who likes a comedy with a good story behind it.

This movie was so funny. Let’s start there. All the jokes landed. The acting was amazing. The cinematography was great. The story could be interpreted in a bunch of ways or just as the story it’s trying to tell. It’s great. I love the background hints at the climate crisis, American politics, covid, and how we would handle a disaster. This whole movie is a depressing little bit too real at times satire about the government in general. Over the course of the movie, you can really see whos supposed to be who. I think movies like this have a dark humor to them but also make you think about the future of the world/ country as a whole and accept the impending doom that seems to be coming at us lowkey fast. Meh whatever YOLO right. The acting was amazing...duh. They had some of the biggest in the industry acting ofc it’s going to be good. Now Timothee chalamet has always been a great actor and one of my favorite things from him is the death of a salesman monologue he does in miss stevens. He’s an amazing actor despite being relatively new to the industry. That being said this movie didn’t seem to take that much acting for him. I heard that most of the lines were improvised which makes sense bc the way he acts in the movie is pretty much how he is in real life. J law did an amazing job per usual and the whole movie just felt so natural. Leo did an incredible job. His character was nothing like him in real life and it just felt like he was being 100% himself. It’s amazing how good he is at acting. The cinematography was a lot of fun. Serious when needed but comical when not. An example is when they were at the shrimp restaurant and Lawrence says the world is ending and the world isn’t doing anything about it and it immediately cuts to the restaurant being destroyed by riots. One of those little chuckle moments you know. There’s so much fun in the movie surrounded by the serious tone. It’s almost covering up what we should be feeling with comedy while still making the audience think. I really enjoyed this movie and I would recommend it to anyone really. I give this movie an 8/10.
FIRST of all. This movie has no right to be as good as it was. NO RIGHT. Its litrally a sequel singing movie, about singing animals... and I cried twice. The humor too! Not a single poop joke or fart joke or anythign stupid like little kid humor in sight! Like it was genunily funny and heartfelt. This movie makes you feel almost a sence of togetherness. Like I really want to go to a concert now. Starting off the songs slap. Like the whole music score is great and the singers are even better like what. The story is told so well like I was actually so. invested. The cinematography is GREAT. Like I loved the way they showed things like the bus scene where the music really brought everyone together. The way it was filmed makes it seem, somehow, very real. There was a dolly zoom for god sakes in a hallway. A whole animated dolly zoom. AND IT WORKED FANTASTIC. Yes the trailer shows the whole movie but pls still go and see it its very much worth a watch. Bring your kids bring everyone you know bc this movie is perfect for everyone. and not like Shreck where its perfect for everyone in a funny way like this movie is a genuinly good everyone movie. The concert scenes are fun and alive and dont feel cringy at all. The movie really plays on finding yourself through those around you and working for what you believe in. Its also got an amazing ending. To be very honest I hope they make a thrid one because truth be told I would see that in a heartbeat. (spoilers) the end when all the little monkey things are tap dancing made me so happy like its genuinly adorable. The very end when they are singing the still havent found what im looking for song made me cry. Like I was actaully sitting there crying over a singing porcupine. This movie suprized me to say the very least and like I said before I reccomend to ANYONE. Like its just good. With that being said I give this movie a 9/10. I really want to give it a 10/10 because there is genuinly nothing I can find wrong with it but Im not about to give an animated movie a perfect rating. but know that it lowkey deserves it.
I actually watched this movie on accident... I just got done watching Gone Girl and was cleaning my room when Bombshell started automatically playing. I remember back in 2019 when Mr. Murray showed us the trailer and talking about the Oscars in 2020 and how this won best makeup. Its been on my watchlist for a while so I just decided why not. Going into it I had no clue about any of the Fox News scandals, or who these people even were. Im so glad I decided to watch it becasue I actaully really liked it! I think they did a fantasic job of telling 3 stories all at once while including as many details as possible. I think this movie had what House of Gucci wanted to have. The way the story is told makes it feel real but still has that fun side like a movie should. The way the camera style is almost reminds me of the office. The quick zooms and such in the newsroom/ office areas were really fun. But when it needed to get serious the transistion was almost seamless. This movie kept the gravity of the sistuation at heart while still making it into a drama. I think my favorite scene is the opeining when they are explaining everything. The way they explained a whole newsroom and its way of working in about 15 mintues or less was really cool. The acting was amazing! I mean everyone did such a great job of keeping emotion behind every line that they said. I mean duh this movie does have some of hollywoods best. Onto the story itself. Margo Robbies scene when she was talking about her experience with Robert was incredible, her acting was amazing and actually moved me to tears. Hearing these stories about how women are treated in this industry honestly makes me sick but strong women like these are the reason why the industry is changing for the better. This movie did a great job of telling their stories and serving them justice. The music in this movie is actually so good for the theme. They keep it serious when it needs to be but during certian office scenes they keep it kinda light and airy. I think it helps keep you engaged in the story and almost makes it fun to follow. Overall I really liked this movie and would totally watch it again. I give this a 9/10. I would reccomend to pretty much anyone.
Ive seen gone girl before and really liked it but since I havent seen it in about a year I decided to watch it again. First of all I know that its based on a book that ive actually been wanting to read for a while now but since ive already seen the movie I dont really see the point. Anyways I really like the story telling in this and how they switch back and forth bewteen Amy and Nicks stories. The way they start to unravel the missing person case to get you to develop you own feelings about Nick and then jump into the cool girl monolouge is so smart. The cool girl monolouge is defitly one of my favorites. I think they do a great job of making this villan somewhat reletable to women. They really make Amy a very relatable character in the beginning. Her whole character design in incredible. Shes insanly smart and evil which yes makes her a good villan but also makes you want to be like her? They make you hate her in the end but your also impressed, I mean she pulled all of that off. Throughout the whole movie you think its done for her but its not, she always has some sort of twisted plan right up her sleeve. I think all the characters were amazingly well acted and thought out. I think thats definly an advantage of this being based on a book. The way that this is filmed is great too. I love the way they incoperate the TV segments and make Amy look at the camera in the end of the movie, almost as if shes looking right at you. Its creepy but really well done. The music is also very well done, its silent when it needs to be and most of the time theres barley any music in the backround. I believe this movie definily falls under the "good for her" movies. Now I know that sounds crazy but theres a whole catagory of movies that follow the female antagonist that, yes shes done some terrible things, but in the process she defyed gender norms and used them to her advantage in some cases. These antagonists are commonly women with crappy boyfriends or in this case husbands and women who have been treated wrong for their gender or race. In the end they get what they deserve or want, their plan worked, and they are happy. Other movies that I think fall under this catagory are Midsommar, US, Ready or Not, and ofc Gone Girl. Its something in the end you can say, "you know what good for her". Enough about that. I give this movie a 9/10 somehting I could watch again and still like it just as much as the first time. I would reccomend this movie to anyone who liked true crime but not getting too scared. it does have some violent parts which are defnitly disturbing but nothing like Midsommar. But it is rated R for a reason.
Little backround for why a bunch of these are all getting posted in the same day. Im bored on break and just decided to go through and watch everythign on the "blockbuster movie" list on Hulu that I havent seen yet and just let it automatically play whatever it wants. Yeah thats it. Ive never ever seen The Matrix. Which is suprizing to me because I feel like its something my mom or dad woudlve forced me to watch as a kid but whatever. Going into it I really had not much of a clue what it was about. I thought it would feel more truman show type of movie but it just didnt. And to be honest I think this movie low key sucks. Now not all of it sucks just some of it. Like I really really like the way the fight scenes are filmed and how one of the first scenes is the super cool iconic kick that Trinity does that really pulls you in and makes you think its going to be great. All the fight scenes were filmed really cool though and overall I really like the cinematography in this film. It almost tells the story and helps keep the modd of the film which I think is what makes it so good. The concept is cool and all but at some point they needed to stop with the werid jelly fish robots. I had to push myself to finish this movie I just got so bored. While I was watchign it I kept a little note in my phone of random thoughts that popped in my head while watching it. They are truly irelleveant to the review itself but I dont care. RANDOM THOUGHTS WITH HAILEY SEGMENT i like the green hue to it so far. woahh she did the kick that Fiona did in shrek 1… wait no shrek came out after this so shrek copied the matrix?!? .a good use of greys mixed with green. there’s too much talk stop being so serious. all the machines and stuff remind me of inception. the mirror thing was cool. this is literally inception like there’s an awful lot of dream talk. literally what is happening why is he all goopy. oh that’s why he’s goopy it’s a doffensmirts evil incorporated looking lab. this looks like a really violent disney movie. woah goonies slide. he grew hair really fast after not having ANY. mouse kinda cute. a little werid huh you just shoved a needle in his brain you really think that would feel werid. this all white scene looks like a capital one commercial. no way they just injected him with fighting skills. mouse died. that homeless man spotted you. that back fired quick. wait a sec he’s like magic and cool now. woah you LOVE him. girl you’ve definitely known him for like only a few days. this movie really feels like inception but not nearly as good. yup ofc it’s the power of love that breaks the matrix or something am i right. woah that’s actually really cool how he’s doing that. lord those affects where so bad. ew pls don’t make out. LMFAO DID HE JUST FLY AWAY.
so yeah thats it I guess. The colors were actually really cool and I still cant quite tell how but when they started going into the Matrix it flet more... fake then in the beginnign of the movie before we knew it was fake. Maybe they messed with the colors more or something but I cant put my finegr on it. Acting was good, no complaints or complements. I hate Keanu for no reason, always have dont really know why. Why do they all wear sunglasses did I miss something? Ending thoughts. 5/10. This movie was so cute! It reminded me a lot of Moana which makes sence since Lin manuel miranda composed and helped write both. The animation was beautifuly done as expeted from Disney. I dont want to compare this to Moana but im going to. I really did like this movie but it feels short and like the story didnt have a whole lot of time to develop, but that might just be me. Compared to Moana which is an hour fourty five, only about 5 minutes ahead of Encantos and feels like a long very well thought out movie. The only bad thing I really have to say is that the character development felt rushed. The songs were very good... DUH. I mean its Lin Manuel come on did we expect them to be bad. Definitly going to have them stuck in my head for quite some time. I hate the grandma. Mean woman she is. Isabella yeah I hate her too but i get where shes sorta coming from. I liked the small bit of fun sister stuff we got between isabel and mirabel. Bruno is my favorite hes just got such a good little story. I liked how they did his character and the little plate on the other side of the wall was so sad. I know this review is short but I dont have a whole lot to say about it, it was just another Disney movie. I give this movie a 8/10.
First of all this is one of my new FAVORITE marvel movies, its actually so good, no flaws at all. I cant say much about this movie without spoiling it but ill say what I can then do a huge spoiler section. I always start with the cinematography so ill see what I can talk about with this. It was reallly great! In the trailer they used a vertigo shot to show the spidey sence which I think was really cool and done well and also the picutre I used for the cover of this is just a fantastic shot in my opinion. Ill talk more about it in the spoiler section. The acting was wow per ususal but I definitly can see a huge improvement in the emotions of Tom Hollands Peter Parker from Homecoming to No way home. Again more in the spoilers section. There was comedy amoung all the sad and shocking stuff. Like they brought back the " I survived my trip to NYC" T-shirt from I beleive homecoming. Also happy was just great in this along with aunt may. And you know a few others were pretty funny but more about them in spoilers. This might be all I can say in the non spoilers section. I give this a solid 10/10. Its one of those movies I would watch over and over again and still love. I would pay so much money to be able to watch it again for the very first time.
!!!!!!HUGE SPOILERS!!!!!! okay only flaw out of the entire thing is Dr. Strange would not risk the entire multiverse for a kid. He isnt that dumb and I didnt really think he would do it. Now I do think in the multiverse of madness that well see why he did or didnt see it as a thret. When Aunt may said "with great power comes great responsibility" most of my theater gasped including me (bc we all know what happens when someone says that to spiderman) and my friend alicia had no clue why everyone was so upset and I wisperd "shes gonna die Alicia". Well then she did. Actually sobbed during that part if you werent sobbing what were you even doing. Still handnt emotionally recovered when they hit us with ned opening the portal which the second I saw spider man through it I could tell it was Andrews spider man and went "oh my god" like stupid loud. Then everyone in the theater started to realize and went CRAZY. Like we had people standing, cheering, screaming, and clapping. It was "amazing" (haha get it). I loved when MJ was throwing bread at him. Andrew really came back into the role perfect and you could tell he had so much fun with it. When Tobys spider man came in though... My theater went even more insane then andrews. Like loud to the point that you couldnt hear some of the conversation on screen. Tom crying about aunt may destoryed me. I loved how they gave the 3 spider men time to interact. Like it really wasnt necesarry at all but I could not stop smiling the whole time. When toby kept telling Andrew that he was amazing <3 actually so cute. yeah we all know andrews peter parker is good at cracking backs *cough gwen. BEST SCENE IN THE WHOLE MOVIE MY FAVORITE PART EVER EVER WHEN THEY WERE ALL SWINING TOGETHER AND THEN DID THEIR INDIVIDUAL POSES!!! I LOVED IT SO MUCH AND MY THEATER WAS GOING INSANE. Then when andrew caught MJ since he coulnt save gwen and then just kinda cryied. so nice he finally got a little bit of closure. When toms spiderman was about to kill green goblin I noticed something. So remeber falcon winter soilger when john walker was killing that guy with the sheild. Tom was about to do the same thing while standing on a sheild and holding the little hover thingy ( i dont remember the name hush) in the same way. Just a funny paralell I saw but im sure it wasnt on purpose. End credit time. First one duh venom thats fun. second one is the multiverse trailer and WOWOWOWOW. I am so exited for that movie. First of all wanda with her black fingers makes me fully believe shes the villan and also EVIL DR STRANGES FROM WHAT IF!!! You could really tell who watched it in the theater from who gasped when he came on the screen. Almost forgot about everyone forgetting about peter Parker. Ned didnt even glance at him. Doenst MJ wonder where she got her neclace??? I just hate that hes all alone its so sad. The reason he had to make his own suit too is because none of Starks suits even recodnise him :((( I think thats it really like its just an amazing movie and im sure everyone who saw it agrees. I really had way higher expectations for this movie. I don't think I've ever seen anything trying so hard to be Oscar bait but this is it. They got a great cast and a pretty good story and somehow messed it up. The film felt like it was the first draft that they just didn't feel like cutting and editing to make it better. If you've seen the movie "the Irish man" I feel like this was trying very hard to be that. Even then in my opinion I didn't think the Irish man was very good. The acting was really really great but with a movie written like this it just didn't work very well. The soundtrack was also good but it wasn't an original it was just songs. This movie went on forever and ever. it was 2 hrs and 45 minutes of me being bored out of my mind. The plot would start, pick up, and then die out again. there was like 4 rising actions and climaxes which made you think that the movie was going to be over soon and then it just wasn't over. The cinematography was pretty normal, it wasn't really anything special. The one thing I really liked was how accurate they portrayed Italian families. like yes we really do hold grudges with each other over the smallest things. Also the accents in the movie were all over the place and constantly changing. The story however was pretty cool. Its also interesting that Gucci just isn't owned by anyone in the family anymore, also makes sense since most of them were pretty violent and tended to stab each other in the back. There were some funny parts of this movie and overall I would call it a comedy drama if thats even a thing. Overall Id give this movie a 4/10. its really not that great and I wouldn't recommend seeing it.
okay spoilers time I feel so bad for the one guy whos name I forget but in the end of the movie it says he died in the streets of London and was living in poverty. Like his family was one the the most successful and they just left him to die. also you could kinda tell how the movie was going to end from about the half way point. When a character hires a hitman and it's a true story its almost counter productive like now we know how this is going to end they obviously get caught. I think the time jumps were random and didn't make much of any sense. The only good time jump was when they started the movie with his murder but didn't show it so it seemed like a normal day and then we find out in the end he gets killed. that was a pretty cool part. I think thats it for this review like I said before its not worth the money. WOW. So this movie has been on my watch list for quite some time now and when my friend Julia texted me and told me that It was free on Amazon and I HAD to watch it... I mean of corse I did. I had absolutely no clue what this movie would be like going into it and didn't even know who much of the cast was. The first person I recognized was Sersha Ronan as Briony. Next to show up was Kiara Knightly (the queen of period pieces ,why am I not surprised shes in this?) who I just love and also love most of the movies shes in. Then came Benedict Cumberbatch (who's character I would really like to push off a cliff for reasons I cant say because it spoils it). Anyways with such a well put together cast AND it being a period piece it came as no surprise to me that this was directed by Joe Wright (the king of period pieces in my opinion). Anyways this movie Starts off in 1930s England in this big manor during the summer. Theres Briony who is weighting a play and the whole first sequences music is mixed in with the sound of a type wrighter, which continuously shows up in the story whenever something starts to progress. We see the flower boy (Robbie) and Briony's sister (Cecilia). Theres a bit of tension between them which leads to this super metaphorical and really tense fountain scene which makes you really say "hmmm whats going on between you two??". Anyways the story progresses from there and at this point I really thought the whole thing was going to take place during the summer at this manor and when the big climax of the story hit I was a bit confused because it had only been about an hour. Then they hit you with the "4 years later" and the story just goes from there. During this 4 years there is a war and Robbie is fighting in it and during all of that he ends up at Dunkirk. Which yes is a movie with harry styles in it BUT thats not what im talking about. One of my all time favorite shots EVER came from this movie. The after math of Dunkirk is shown by this long, gorgeous mix of a tracking shot and I feel like an establishing shot. Ive never seen the aftermath of a war shown in this much depth in film before. It goes from the ambulances, men dying, people crying, and then turns to people singing and having a good time. People are singing what sounds like songs of good bye and also songs of joy. The camera eventually zooms out to see the whole area. Theres buildings burning down and destruction everywhere but behind all of that theres singing and joy. It's just a really really cool scene. Then close after that Robert walks into a theater and the camera is sideways for a while while hes in front of the screen thinking. The camera goes back straight and zooms out to show a couple kissing on the screen behind him while he hangs his head down low. This still is also one of my new favorites. Theres so much emotion told by no talking or music at all (what im talking about is the header for this blog). After this we get kind of caught back up with Briony and you can tell because the type righter music starts up again which I thought was so clever. Then theres this whole hospital scene which is pretty graphic but doesnt just focus on the emotions of the soldiers like most movies do, it shows the nurses crying and almost in shock. I just think it was a really good directing choice to show that aswell. Enough about the random scenes I liked because theres way too many of those to even get too. COSTUMES were amazing. and by costumes I mean Costume. Kinda plural but not really because the green dress that Kiera Knightly wore was STUNNING. I loved it so much and it wasn't even the dress itself its the way they filmed the dress that made it so gorgeous and have its own part in the story. Theres this one shot where we see her standing in the dress and her shadow is almost reaching out of the gates of the driveway like shes reaching out to Robert or something. Its just amazing. Okay im doing this while watching the movie so I don’t leave out anything or forget but the type wrighter is back again but this time its reminding her of that one summer and her mistake (spoilers) I don’t like Briony anymore shes a little liar and framed robbie on purpose just because she had a little crush on him. WHY WHY WHY ARE THEY GETTING MARRIED??? You were a child and he assaulted you why are you getting married and omg why is she at their wedding(spoilers over). Also towards the end theres some gorgeous shots but the ending itself is beautiful. I give this movie 10/10. I loved it so much. I cried like 5 times towards the end and im still going to need 2-4 business days to recover from that ending. I recommend this to anyone. Anyone at all just watch it.
ps the 5 minute Dunkirk tracking shot in this movie was better than the entire Christopher Nolan Dunkirk movie. https://youtu.be/QijbOCvunfU < link for the tracking shot |
