Ive seen midsommar and loved it, I consider it to be a comfort movie because it almost re-sets my brain in a weird way... like it makes me forget everything else thats going on around me if that makes sense. So going into this movie I expected the same things. The same amazing shots, acting, story telling, and odd sence of comfort. This movie however brought me the exact opposite. I dont really get scared but at points in this film I found myself covering my eyes or burying my head into the pillow or sometimes just sitting with my mouth open in shock. Saying that I give this a 8.5/10. Would I watch it again, maybe even alone? Hell no. Was it still amazing? YES!! Now let's get into the technicalities of this. The shots were incredible and unsettling all rolled up into one. I watched this with abby, Madison, and grace and at one point in the movie Ari Aster did this shot where the camera follows the character and flips upside down. Seeing this I yelled "OMG HE DID THE SAME ONE IN MIDSOMMAR". Im not sure what its called but I think its up there in my favorite camera tricks along with the dolly zoom. The acting was just amazing. I feel like the whole cast deserves some kind of awards because the amount of emotion they threw into their characters was just incredible. The story telling was also just sooo good. The foreshadowing with the doll houses and the symbols of the moms cult being everywhere added so much to the story. Its funny because when we finished hereditary we immediately all decided to watch midsommar to kinda forget about what we just watched. OH I almost forgot... THE SCORE!!! WOWZA the music in this film was top notch. The very ending with the tree house music is now such a classic scary movie sound and ive heard it everywhere and didn't even know where it was from. Anyways 100% watch this if you like scary or psychological thrillers because this is definitely top tier in my opinion.

WOWZA. This is now one of the highest rated movie on this page landing at a 9/10. The acting- incredible. the cinematography- AMAZING. the story- moving, emotional, inspiring. I LOVE. Going into this film I expected it to be just another sports movie based on a true story (trying to leave my comfort zone a bit with these sports movies for example black Swann the other day). Also going into this I knew NOTHING about Tonya. I had heard the name once or twice and seen her poster on a wall in a random restaurant in NH. But never knew her incredible story. First of all men ruin everything. She could've held her spot as the best in the world while paving the way for little girl who came from not much to follow their dreams. But no he had to come along and ruin it. Seeing Sebastian Stan was a bit of a surprise- since I had just randomly clicked the movie I didn't really know what to expect, but I defiantly wasn't expecting Sebastian and Margo to be a couple lol. Margo Robbie did a fantastic job in this film. You can really feel all her emotions through the screen and at points I just wanted to jump through the screen and tell her to keep pushing and keep going. Gosh I still cant get over how much I loved this movie. It made me want to get up and start olympic figure skating (never even done it). I also just loved Tonyas attitude, it feels fresh to the whole sports movie industry and how figure skating is portrayed. Just her fighting the social norms while being the best at the sport is so fun to watch. I think thats about all I have to say about this movie, I watched it on HULU so if you're interested PLEASE go watch it. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend!!
So this wasn't my weekend movie but it was something I just decided to watch during the week for funnies. During the first half of the movie I kinda hated it. like it just made me uncomfortable and it felt like the story was not moving but the second half... let me tell you redeemed the WHOLE movie. I give this an 8/10. The acting was incredible, like amazing, like some of the BEST I've ever seen. Natalie portions performance was absolutely breathtaking and you could just feel the emotion through the screen. The cinematography was pretty okay, I don't think it was significant enough to help move the story along other than the mirror shots, but I still think it was good. The contrast in character from the black swan to the white Swan is incredible and I just love how they used music from the piece throughout to tell the story of the black Swan. I love the double story idea and how this role is slowly consuming her, how instead of falling in love with a prince she falls for the role and in the end its almost as if the black Swan killed the white swan inside of her. She's a whole new person in the end which shows just incredible character development. Anyways I think this movie was very moving and as someone who dances I think it really shows the struggle and emotion that come with the art. I would recommend this to anyone who likes dark dramatic stories.
Lets start off with ive seen this before but YEARS ago so I only remembered little parts and none of the plot. Honestly thought it was a fever dream for a while until I saw it on dinner plus the other day. I love this movie I think its so cute and the aesthetic is so Tim Burton esque. Its also scary in a lot of ways so I would definitly say do not let little kids watch it. < the monsters are terrifying. I give this film a 7/10, its not amazing but its a cute movie. its so whimsical and fun but the reason it gets a 7 is it just doesnt... hit. Do you know what I mean? Like its all good but it just lacks something. I think one part of it is that the main actor wasn't a very good one... and I know im in no position to judge acting but it felt like his lines were coming from the outside in and not the inside out if that makes sence. There was something just lack luster about it even though its a weird dark pastel film. Other than the mystery missing element I thought it was a good watch!
WOW. WOW!! This was SUCH a good movie and in my personal opinion one of the only marvel releases that feels like a marvel movie since endgame. The fight scenes were actually jaw dropping like my jaw was on the. FLOOR. When I saw this I made sure to see it on opening weekend, im so happy that we finally have some Asian representation in the MCU and since this was such a big deal I wanted to see it in an audience full of people who wanted to be there as much as me. The last time I was in a theater just sold out full of marvel fans was endgame... that is still one of the best experiences ive ever had but being able to experience that again with this movie was so magical. When the intro song started playing me and my friend Alicia started clapping, which in turn made the whole theater clap and shout for joy. Then throughout the movie the audience remained alive and enthusiastic which was just amazing. Anyways enough about that I give this a 9/10. I loved it. The story was adventurous, fun, and hilarious. Also the end credit scene.... WHAT. If you watch the movie let me know because I have some questions about the timeline that need explaining because I DONT GET IT. I think thats about it:) 10/10 go watch this.
First of all this movie exceeded my expectations by a whole lot. Disneys been making a whole lot of remakes as of recently and some of them are less than stellar. But this one, wow a whole new vamp to an old villa. I give this movie an 8/10 making it one of my highest ranking ones yet. I don't even know how to put the goodness of the movie into categories because all of it was just that good. Let's just start with the basics, the story. The storytelling was incredible, I love the idea of an anti heroine its one of my favorite tropes (if you could call it that). The aesthetics were amazing as well. The music choice was just *chefs kiss. The whole movie was just amazing to be honest I would recommend to anyone. Just make sure you watch ALL the end credit scenes because they tie this story into the animated movies in such a cute way. Basically just watch the movie its good don't even question it. EDIT: okay so yes it is PG-13 but theres not anything I would consider too bad in it. I'm going to SPOIL a little here but its just the beginning of the movie so its no biggie. Her mom falls off a cliff which could be seen as a bit disturbing and also cruella almost dies in a fire which is bit of an intense scene but its not bad at all since she doesn't get injured and survives. I think kids would love this movie. If I had seen this as a little girl I feel like its one of those movies that would've shaped me, it has a lot of women empowerment messages and is low-key inspiring to follow your dreams ( I mean the opening line is "I am woman her me roar" or something along the lines of that). Anyways thats it for this rev now go watch cruella.
